Ok, I’m gonna say something right now, and frankly, it’s going to piss some people off. If I do, so sorry, the unfollow button is right over there.
I am sick to DEATH of hearing people get shit for playing their muses, for writing fics, or for drawing. I’m tired of hearing people feeling bad for something that they love.
So here’s a god damned clue. Put on your big boy pants, get a fuckin’ tampon, and GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF.
Don’t like how someone portrays a character? MAKE YOUR OWN BLOG OF THAT CHAR. Don’t bash a person for writing their muse the way they want to. Or, even, ya know, if it REALLY bothers you, there’s always that lovely unfollow button. No one’s holding a god damned gun to your head keeping you there.
Think someone’s writing or art is better than yours? Compliment them and WORK ON YOUR OWN SHIT! Don’t tell them how bad their work makes you feel… That doesn’t inspire them to keep making art! That makes them feel like shit because they’ve somehow made you feel bad. THAT MAKES THEM NOT WANT TO WRITE OR DRAW OR PAINT ANYMORE! You’re destroying something they love because you feel inadequate?
Get the fuck over yourself.
And just in case you needed a grade school refresher:
Compliment: “Wow, your art is so pretty! How did you get those lines so perfect?”
Not a compliment: “You make me never want to write again, cuz what’s the point?”
See the difference? Don’t be that guy, seriously. It takes a LOT of effort, and a TON of courage to put art of any kind out there, including rp threads, headcanons, drabbles, sketches… ALL OF IT. We’re sharing something with you that is a PART OF US.
If you can’t respect that, if you can’t figure out how to give a compliment properly without making the artist feel like shit… Then just keep your damned mouth shut.
I’d rather have something get ignored then get even ONE comment saying I’ve uninspired someone.
